- Real-time syncChanges made on one device now appear instantly across all your open tabs and devices — no manual refresh needed.
- Rich text notesTask notes now support headings, bold, italic, bullet lists, and interactive checklists. All existing plain-text notes are preserved.
- Smart tag iconsTags automatically get a relevant icon based on their name when you create them, making task lists faster to scan. You can change the icon manually in Settings → Tags.
- Workspace-scoped tagsTags now belong to a workspace so your Work and Personal tags stay separate, and the tag picker only shows tags relevant to the task you're editing.
- Task details viewOpening a task now shows a clean read-first view with auto-save on edit, so casual task views feel lighter and more intentional.
- Pull-to-refreshOn touch devices, drag down on a task list to force an immediate sync with the server.

Improvements
- Notes preview/edit toggleTask notes now show rendered markdown when not focused; click to switch to the editor. Checkboxes in notes are interactive in both the task detail view and the active focus card, and checking them auto-saves without opening the editor.
- Click-to-position in notes editorClicking anywhere in the notes preview now opens the editor with the cursor placed at the exact position you clicked, rather than the start of the field.
- No layout shift on notes/title focusActivating the title or notes field no longer shifts surrounding text — borders and padding stay in place so the content feels anchored.
- Checked todo items visually distinctCompleted checklist items in notes are shown in a muted gray in both the editor and the preview, using the same colour token for consistency. Unchecked items remain at full contrast.
- Notes auto-save only on changeLeaving the notes editor without making any changes no longer triggers a save request or shows the "Saved" confirmation.
- Resilient real-time syncLive updates now survive a brief backend outage without a reconnect storm, and the app releases the live connection for tabs left hidden for a couple of minutes, reconnecting and refreshing the moment you return.
- Scalable real-time syncThe backend now shares a single Redis subscription per process across all connected clients instead of one per client, so real-time sync stays fast and reliable as many devices and tabs connect at once.
- Broader real-time syncTask changes made by AI agents, plus workspace, project, and tag edits, now sync live across your open devices instead of only appearing after a manual refresh.
Bug Fixes
- Real-time sync no longer exposes access tokens in URLsThe live update stream now authenticates with a standard request header instead of a URL query parameter, so access tokens no longer leak into server or proxy logs.
- CodeMirror cursor invisibleFixed the text cursor not appearing when editing notes.
- Heading and list spacing match previewFixed the editor's heading padding and list margins so the text geometry is identical whether you're reading or editing, eliminating the height jump when switching modes.
- Todo item text contrast in editorFixed all list item text (checked and unchecked) being dimmed by the `tags.list` syntax highlight rule; only checked items are now muted.
- Header timer on mobileFixed the focus timer disappearing in the header on mobile screens due to a CSS specificity conflict.
- Links in notes and focus cardFixed link behaviour in the task notes editor and on the active task focus card.
- Avatar disappearingFixed your profile avatar vanishing when Google's CDN returned rate-limit errors.

- Branded calendar date pickerThe browser's native date input has been replaced with a custom calendar popover that looks and behaves consistently on iOS, Android, and web.
- Confirmation dialogsDestructive actions now use a native-feeling dialog with keyboard navigation and focus trapping that works correctly on iOS, Android, and web.
- App update bannerWhen a new version of FocusToday is available, a banner prompts you to refresh so you're never running a stale version — especially useful on iOS PWA.
- Editable display nameYou can now change your display name from Settings.
- Agent consent screen with logoWhen an AI agent requests access to your account, the consent screen now shows the agent's logo for easier identification.
- Refined focus card colourThe active task card uses a soft mint-green colour in light mode, improving text contrast and visual distinction from the rest of the UI.
- Faster initial loadThe app now splits its JavaScript by page so only the code needed for the current view is downloaded on first visit.

- Black screen on iPhoneFixed a blank screen that could appear on iPhone when a page chunk failed to lazy-load.
- Task editor overflow on mobileFixed the task editor overflowing the viewport on small mobile screens.
- Broken empty-state illustrationsFixed empty-state illustrations that were not rendering correctly.
- AI Agents settings overflowFixed the AI Agents settings panel overflowing its container width on mobile.

- AI Agent integrationClaude, Codex, and other AI agents can connect to FocusToday to list, create, edit, reschedule, and search tasks, start and pause the timer, and manage tags — set up in Settings → AI Agents.
- OAuth for AI AgentsAgents connect via a browser approval flow with no token copy-pasting; each connection is listed in Settings → AI Agents and can be revoked at any time.
- Offline PWAInstall FocusToday as a web app and keep working without a network connection — the timer and task editing continue offline.
- Soft-delete with 30-day retentionDeleted tasks are held for 30 days before permanent removal, so accidental deletes can be recovered.
- Undo completing or hiding a taskPress Ctrl+Z or tap the undo toast to reverse the last completion or hide action.
- Keyboard navigationUse Arrow Up and Arrow Down to move between task cards without touching the mouse or trackpad.
- "Move all" bulk rescheduleReschedule every task in a Today section to tomorrow, next week, or a custom date in a single tap via the dropdown menu.
- Start timer from Plan tabTap the play button on any today or overdue task in Plan to activate it and start the timer without switching to the Today tab.
- Auto-stop stale timersIf a timer was running when the app closed, it stops automatically on next launch so your tracked time stays accurate.
- Rotating motivational messagesThe new task form and empty states show rotating encouraging prompts to keep you moving.
- Overdue dates in redPast-due dates are highlighted in red on the Focus and Plan tabs so overdue work is impossible to miss.
Bug Fixes
- Sign out all tabs on logoutLogging out in one tab now signs out all other open tabs simultaneously so your session is fully cleared.
- Timer and editor work offlineThe timer and task editor now handle server unavailability gracefully instead of erroring out.
- Editor closes after offline saveFixed the task editor failing to close correctly after saving while offline.
